Error code: C= 1920 means the Intuit QuickBooks FCS service (QBFCService) failed to start, usually during installation or an update. The message reads "Service Intuit QuickBooks FCS (QBFCService) failed to start." This is an installation-level error rather than damage to your company file.

What C= 1920 means

QBFCService is the QuickBooks File Copy Service that handles parts of installation and updates. When Windows cannot start that service, the installer stops with C= 1920. Because the failure happens before QuickBooks fully runs, your accounting data in the .QBW file is generally unaffected.

Common causes

  • An error in the computer's Internet connection configuration.
  • Installing on top of an older version that already had damage.
  • The installation being blocked by Iolo System Mechanic.
  • Installing under a non-Admin user account.
  • A Hewlett-Packard printer utility preventing the QuickBooks PDF Converter from installing.
